North Carolina Assistance Programs
North Carolina Assistance Programs
By

on December 17, 2011
For those individuals who are poor and having trouble with the various bills of life, state assistance programs can be a lifesaver. The site
www.needhelppayingbills.com
offers a list of assistance programs broken down by states, and North Carolina has over a dozen of these listed. Here are a couple major programs available to North Carolinians.
Child Care Financial Assistance - The State's Division of Child Development has an aid program set up for families who qualify for assistance. Families who qualify for the program are eligible for money from a mixture of federal and state funding to pay for a share of childcare costs.
Another great program is the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program, which works with eligible individuals to afford food items. The benefits of the program are allowed to be used to purchase most any kind of food at participating retail grocery stores to help ease the burden of providing food for a family in tough economic times. The limitations on the benefits include not being able to use them for pet food, tobacco, soap, paper products and alcohol. Even with these limitations this is a great program that helps residents of the state afford food for their families and themselves.
Another great site when it comes to finding programs is
www.benefits.gov
. Although it is a federal site, it can help individuals find both federal and state assistance programs. The site gives individuals a comprehensive search for programs that they would most likely qualify for. They offer individuals a sort of test, which asks a variety of qualify questions, about what they are looking for, their income, education, and other factors that go into qualifying individuals for programs on both the state and federal level. The site then automatically disregards programs that the individual will not qualify for and gives them a list of various programs that they could qualify for based on their answers. The survey only takes a few minutes and makes the process of searching through numerous programs much easier.
Either way, there are numerous ways individuals get to take advantage of state assistance programs. These are designed for individuals who need help with everyday things like child care, food,
health services
, and many others, and can really help out those who qualify. When individuals are in need of basic things, they should look to see where they can receive help because there are programs out there to help those in need.
