Consumer complaints about Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC

do not use Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC
! The name seems vague enough to think that this company might help you with your debt problems, but in fact it will just cause an even bigger headache. This company based in Westbury, NY, has a notorious record of poor customer relations, harassment, and incorrect information. The company has made repeated phone calls to people, sometimes asking about an uncollectable debt, and even asking for the wrong person.
The company has a file with the Better Business Bureau, and the BBB gives them a rating of
F
. In the past 36 months, a total of
221
complaints have been filed against the company. Out of these complaints, an overwhelming 195 of them have been about billing or collection issues, while 17 more were regarding customer service. Out of the 221 complaints, only 202 of them were sufficiently resolved. Furthermore, out of the 202 complaints considered “resolved,” 20 of them were “assumed” resolved.

The vast majority of complaints were about debt collections, specifically on debts that were uncollectable. One person wrote in 2007 that the company sent her a letter about a debt from Verizon. The customer had cancelled her service with Verizon in 2002, yet Debt Recovery Solutions said she owed $171.07. Another customer in 2009 received numerous phone calls for a three-month period about an unpaid debt from 2002, once again with Verizon. A document was sent to the customer claiming to be the final bill, but the address on the bill was not the customer’s.
Many complaints deal with erroneous personal information. One person in 2009 received a notice saying she owed $508.62 to Sprint. The customer’s previous cell phones were AT&T, and she has never had a Sprint phone in her life. Another customer from 2008 received phone calls asking for somebody named “Nguyen.” There was nobody in the household with that name, but the customer
kept receiving phone calls
for a six-month period.
The final examples show how you can stop this company from harassing you. One person in 2010 received phone calls about an uncollectable debt. Another person had been receiving letters since 2003 about a Sprint phone bill. Both men called the company and recorded their phone calls. The only thing they said during the phone call was asking for the address of the legal department to send a cease and desist letter. They kept repeating this request until they got the information. If you ever come across this situation in the future, you too can use the phrase: “I require the address of your legal department to send you a cease and desist letter.”
